Zombies And Other Minds Shaun Of The Dead - 1035 Words

Name Student number TA Date Zombies and Other Minds Shaun of the Dead is a humorous take on the zombie movie genre, which presents an interesting thought experiment that challenges our understanding of the mind. In the movie, a character who is a friend of the protagonist, Ed, is bitten by a zombie and subsequently turns into a zombie himself. At the end of the movie, it is revealed that Ed, or â€Å"Zombie Ed† as he is now a zombie and therefore not necessarily the same person, if a person at all, is living in the backyard of the protagonist. If Zombie Ed has no significant amount of mind, is this rational or misplaced sentimentalism on the part of the protagonist? Could Zombie Ed be a different mind, or does he simply not have a mind at†¦show more content†¦In the case of Zombie Ed, substance dualism could maintain that he doesn t have a mind because the zombification process causes too much damage to the brain for it to work. On the other hand, it could make a plausible case that Zombie Ed is now a different mind; substance dualism must accept that brain states can have a causal influence on the mind (otherwise how do they coordinate to cause behavior?), and a different brain implies at most different brain states entailing a different causal influence on the mind. Identity theory maintains that mental states just are brain states (Lecture notes). There is a correlation between what we perceive mentally and what we can observe neurologically because we are observing mental states when we observe the brain. In the case of Zombie Ed, this theory faces extraordinary difficulty resolving the question either way with satisfaction. Zombie Ed does have a brain, albeit one greatly damaged since Ed underwent zombification; if it accepts that Zombie Ed must have a mind because he has a brain, then how does it discern brains? Our association of mental states with brain states is only because we have mental states, not because we already knew there was something about the brain tha t had an immediate causal influence on the mind somehow (for example, the ancient Egyptians thought the heart was the source of mind). By identity theory we ought to be able to know that

The Demographics Of The U.s. Essay - 1294 Words

The demographics of the U.S. are forever evolving. No generation is like the one before. Trends come and go, ethnic diversity increases, and social norms change. Therefore, as expected, the need and attitude towards particular products changes. There are very few consumer items that are able to withstand the test of time. Those products are typically essential lifestyle or hygiene goods. For example, products like bath soap have been around for years and it is unlikely that the need for them go away anytime soon. With that being said, it does not mean that products like soaps, shampoos, etc. do not need to evolve with the changing desires of our country. They too must also add variety into their product mix, as well as change their methods of marketing to keep up with the times. Let’s now take a look at some demographic trends that will impact how companies market in the U.S. for the years to come. Hispanic Population Growth Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnic/racial group in America. In 2014, the U.S. Census Bureau reported that Hispanics make up over 17% of the population and it projects that they will account for nearly 30% of the population by the year 2060. This change will greatly impact what products companies put out on the market, who they market them to, and how they market them. A 2010 report on demographics conducted by the Nielsen Company revealed that Hispanics spend more money on baby items (formula, diapers, etc.). Neo

Neo-Nazis Essay Today there are many active hate groups in the United States such as the Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Nazi, Skinheads, Christian identity, and the Black Separatists. These hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan, which is one of Americas oldest and more feared, use violence and move above the law to promote their causes. Another example is a group called Christian Identity, who promotes a religion that is mainly racist and anti-Semitic. Another group are the Black Separatist groups, they are organizations whose basically are all based on hatred. We know alot about these groups because of the Intelligence Project these are citizens reports, law enforcement agencies, field sources and news reports that make us aware of the racism. Many people know how these groups act and think and most of the American people agree that these hate groups are immoral and should not be allowed to exist neither in the United States nor on the rest of the world. All the hate groups know that they can only flourish if they continue to recruit new members. Three of the most obvious similarities among hate groups members are their sex, male; their race, Caucasian; and their age, 35 years old or younger. Many people think that the reason young people are willing to join hate groups in high school and in college is that they are uncertain about their own futures. People believe that young people who join hate groups are people with the least education and the least hope for the future in their jobs, familys and basically there whole lives. For members of the Ku Klux Klan, their main messages of hatred are toward young people. The education of children and babies has been an important part of the Klan activities. It is so bad and wrong that the Ku Klux Klan has even gone so far as to hang out at playgrounds. They look for little boys who play unsupervised. The Klan believes that these boys are potential members of the Klan because their parents do not care enough to watch them play. They feel the child is probably growing up in a dysfunctional family that gives him no attention and they feel when he is older he will follow the Klan because membership in the group will provide him with a strong family structure that his parents never gave him in his own home. Some people say that children need to feel like they have responsibility, and the hate groups give them this responsibility. They can give them a wide range of duties from simple responsibilities like guarding a door, to big responsibilities like organizing recruitment. When they complete the tasks given to them by the group, they feel like they are needed for the survival of the group, and they have purpose in life. Hate crimes have risen in number during the past five years, and many state governments have tryed to prevent such crimes by passing laws called bias laws. These laws make a crime that is commited by hatred based on the victims race, religion, ethnic background, or sexual orientation a more serious crime than a normal crime. Many people believe that these laws violate the criminals freedom of speech. Many hate group members say that freedom of speech is the right to say or write and even publish someones thoughts, and to express ones self. They also say that this right is guaranteed to all Americans. Some people in organizations who are against these hate groups ask themselves if the first amendment protects all form of expression, like the very serious and hurtful crimes like the burning crosses. The Supreme Court Justices have decided that some kinds of speech are not protected by the Constitution, but the main question still is Does freedom of speech mean freedom to hate? Right no w, there are a lot of hate groups that are printing pamphlets and flyers so they can recruit new members. They are also reaching larger audiences through electronic media, such as internet www.resist.com, television, and radio. The acquisition of knowledge by people depends on their ability to internalize concepts. The origin of knowledge is unknown since most people do not know the true source of the information they have, and that which they disseminate. Over the years, many ideas have been developed to understand what it means to possess knowledge. Research by Cahn describes the differences between assumptions and actual knowledge (74). In the article, Appearance and Reality by Bertrand Russell, he argues that all information known to humans is subject to doubt. He explains further that skepticism yields a closer understanding of various occurrences in life, but not knowledge. Skepticism is the nature of being doubtful of ideas. He tries to show that the daily occurrence and appearance of a setting is unknown. According to the article, the existence of specific items leads to the assumption of their knowledge. He evaluates the concept of skepticism, and its effect on general information. Skepticism gives rise to the assumptions made on a daily basis through doubting the existence of tangible items in a setting. In the article, What Can I Know? by Dewi Zephaniah Phillips, the author argues that in order to have information about an event or occurrence in a setting, extensive research should be done. He shows that people need to have prior information to a case before claiming that they have knowledge. The information should be self-gathered by the person seeks knowledge. To support his argument, he compares religion to philosophy. He questions the existence of God and relates it to philosophy. Russell gives an example of waking up and sitting on a chair and table of specific shape and color. On the table, he sees printed papers and other images. On the other hand, Phillips makes comparison of religion and philosophy. Both arguments have similarities in that; they use philosophy to discard knowledge. They are also similar because they use the occurrence of natural situations to take a stand. While Russell questions the difference in shades of color that affect the appearance of the table and the contents on it, Phillips questions the existence of God. This shows different ways of arguing by both writers, but the perception of knowledge is the same. The two arguments also have differences in relating their positions and challenging assumptions. Russell relates the general color of the table to the changes brought up by the different lighting conditions. This challenges the initial assumption of the color of the table. The explanation describes the different views of how things are perceived. Introducing the concept of lighting to describe the appearance of the table shows doubt. The example of this setting establishes his argument of doubting the existence of knowledge. On the other hand, Phillips dismisses the beliefs of God’s existence without seeing Him physically. As generations passed, this idea has formed different religions that had various definitions of God’s existence. Phillip states that people should discover God by themselves. This shows that people need further information in order to acquire knowledge. In support of his claim, he outlines the way he should know all other believers better than his perception of God, to acquire knowledge of his existence. His argument shows the difference between knowledge and belief. The relationship between religion and philosophy shows how assumptions affect the information that people perceive. He also shows the relevance of doing further research in order to convert an assumption to knowledge. Reasons That Make Russell a Skeptic Russell is skeptical due to his confusion because of philosophy. He does not believe in the existence of knowledge because of difficulties in tracing the origin and purpose of matter. His skepticism developed because he lacked valid explanations and proof of the occurrence of general settings. He says that personal ideas originating from the mind without any information elsewhere are most probable. He is also skeptical because he believes that there is a difference between reality and appearances. Therefore, he dismisses philosophy because it does not have conclusive answers to the arguments raised. Works Cited Cahn, Steven M. Exploring Philosophy: An Introductory Anthology. John Hale Vs. John Proctor Essays - Salem Witch Trials, The Crucible

John Hale Vs. John Proctor Essays - Salem Witch Trials, The Crucible John Hale Vs. John Proctor Rev. John Hale vs. John Proctor The characters of John Hale and John Proctor in The Crucible can be compared and contrasted according to their key traits, goals, and tendencies to change. These characters are probably the two most important characters in the play. They both are strong men mentally and are proud of what they accomplish. Reverend John Hale and John Proctor can be compared and contrasted according to their key traits. Reverend Hale is a man in his late forties. He is intelligent and very proud. He believes that he earned his titled as Reverend, the title was not only given to him. John Proctor is a man in his mid-thirties and like Reverend Hale he is proud of what he does. Proctor is also a man who is physically strong since he is always working on his farm. He is a person who does not like hypocrites or frauds. He is also stubborn and not easily led into things. People respect him and fear him as well. These two characters can also be compared according to their goals. Reverend Hales goal is to save the citizens of Salem from being condemned to death and of being accused of witchcraft. If someone is accused, Reverend Hale wants to get that person freed and prevent them from an unnecessary death. John Proctors goal is to first get his wife freed from jail after being accused of witchcraft. He also wants to get Valentin Benitez himself free and wants Hathorne and Danforth to see that there are no witches in Salem and that all the deaths that they have created are unreasonable and irrelevant. They can be further compared and contrasted by their tendencies to change. Reverend Hale usually is a straight faced, stubborn man who stands for what he believes in. At the end of the play he cries as John Proctor is taken off to be hanged before the whole village. John Proctor was also a stubborn man that did not deny what he believed, but at key times in the play he changed what he was saying and fighting for against the court. He first said he did not practice witchcraft and had never seen the Devil, but afterwards he said the opposite. He said that he was an evil person and that he did practice evil acts. In Act Two he also went from saying that he was a good man to finally confessing to being an adulterer and a lecher. The more appealing character was John Proctor because through his stubbornness and inflexibility he was a more interesting character. Proctor was a spontaneous character at times also when he changed his arguments into confessions. Bibliography n/a

Orientation to Biblcal Studies Literature review

Orientation to Biblcal Studies - Literature review Example There is a sense of joy and effort hidden in finding something for ourselves. Thereby the modern academic study of scripture allows an individual a chance to engage with a religious text in a such way that one tends to develop a personal appropriation of the scripture. A systematic modern study of the scripture is pivotal because it happens to be the word of God and contains no fallacy or errors. An academic study of scripture is necessary to quintessentially realize the fact that God is there to take care of this universe and miracles can happen even today as they happened about 2000 years ago in Israel. It is really feasible to go through the scripture without understanding much of it. Even more easy it is to misinterpret the message inherent in the scripture or to interpret a word totally out of context. An academic study of the scripture helps one arrive at the actual and correct understanding of the text in it and places one’s decision to live by the word and to devote on e’s life to the study of scripture on a sound footing. A religious attending of the mass is not a sure way to receive the innate message of the scripture as there happens to be no preacher incapable of fallacy or not liable to make mistakes. Thereby a modern academic study of the scripture is a more eager and sincere way to receive the message in the scripture. ... However, to be able to accrue a firm judgment in these matters, it is imperative for a believer to personally engage in a systematic study of the scripture and to thoroughly imbibe its content. And when it comes to preachers and teachers who intend to disseminate the good news implicit in the scripture, it is a must for them to have a thorough grounding in the text, so that what they preach to others is immaculately faultless and in consonance with the true message in the scripture. Hence, the study of the scripture is an integral aspect of a believer’s life, and more so for the believers who intend to spread and convey the good news to others. In the contemporary times when it is feasible to engage in an academically sound study of the scripture, and considering the abundance of sources available on the scripture, it behoves any believer to engage in an academically systematic study of the scripture, even if it happens to be of the most basic or simple scope. A modern academi c study of the scripture helps one understand its importance and thereby encourages and motivates one to work hard in construing the message given in it. However, it goes without saying that there are also many pitfalls associated with an academic study of the scripture. One of the essential pitfalls in this context is that a scholar with ample erudition in the academic study of the scripture may lose contact with the actual spirit of the text and in self-conceitedness based on personal scholarship may end up believing the scripture to be a historical or literary text (Gooder 56). It is important to know the scripture, yet, it is even more important for a believer to know the Lord. Hence, while engaged in a systematic study of the scripture it is important for a student not

And also the competition from large scale PR firms that serves nationwide. Analysis of the business performance Performance of a company depends on different factors. To evaluate performance of a company comparatively Porters five forces model gives a large cover up. The task facing managers is to analyze competitive forces in an industrys environment in order to identify the opportunities and threats confronting a company. Michael E.Porter of the Harvard school of business administration has developed a framework that helps managers in this analysis.(Morden ,2007) According to the Porter establishment of many companies pose a threat. Industry of PR is fully filled with thousands of companies , so the buyers can easily move on to other company. As PR is not much capital oriented industry so entry is much easier compare to another industry. so there is high threat of new entrance. Bargaining power of customers is the power customers have to stress up companies in a particular industry. In PR applying this factor is not identical. Some firms highly depend on customers while others neglect that so the bargaining power can be ranked as moderate factor. PR is a industry build with knowledge. It is very hard to find good PR people so they can demand more. There is competitive rivalry among companies in the PR industry because loosing a one customer may cause to lose ten. Value chain analysis contains interlinked activities that finally targeted to achieve customer needs and requirements. In each stage it adds value to the final product. In the industry of PR it targets to grant customer satisfied final product. Activity of the value chain consists which are related to sales, marketing, promotional. As a small business in PR industry it needs to pay attention on that activity. Elements of service represent activities related to after service, assisting, handling complains. As a company in PR industry it is highly connected with those element. Scenario 2 How to overcome weaknesses As pointed out in SWOT analysis there are few weaknesses identified. The less revenue compared to other companies in PR industry is an issue related with the company. To overcome this problem company needs to focus on generating more and more profits. For that they need to target as well as high budget and low budget campaigns. Because sometimes profit margin of low budget is higher than profit margin of high budget. And also they must carry out promotional campaign emphasizing their awards in order to attract more and more valuable customers Strength of a working team is not always depends on count of heads. But in Shine Communications there are only 56 employees in the company. Because they are in PR industry they always have to deal with people who need everything perfectly done. So it is better to hire well selected employees to overcome being inflexible amidst customers. How to maintain and strengthen existing performance Shine Communications operates with core values inside the business that helps to run business functions smoothly. That leads them towards more achievements. In order to maintain performance they need to refresh their ideas continuously. Customers expect different type of outcomes from the company. Shine Communications already having good team spirit and that should be keeping up and strong to maintain performance. Shine Communications reach their customers in different ways and they value their customers. It is better to tie up a knot between customers in a small scale business because one customer means lots. To attain more performance it is required to value people indeed. Performance of a company rather depends on capabilities of the employees of the company. So in order to acquire high performance it is needed to improve performance of individuals. For that employees should be trained, push to gain new knowledge, encourage to learn. Those will definitely leads to improve performance of the company. New area which the business could be expanded It is a way of performing well by entering to a new field of business. As a company in the field of PR the Shine Communications can expand their business operations in to different fields. As per the behavior of the business and the way they conduct their business activities most lead to the sector of marketing research. Marketing research is the function which links the consumers, customers , public and the market through information. Information used to identify define marketing opportunities and problems , generate refines and evaluate marketing action and activities monitored marketing performances and improve understanding of marketing as a process(Macolam,2007). Shine Communications already in the position of understanding behavior of customers and they are deeply study the changes in market as well as every aspect of the society in order to carry out their campaigns. So shine communications has a passion for researching. In a marketing research it is important to measure what we done. Validity refers to the extant to which we captured data and are we measuring what we intended to measure(Naresh,2006) . Shine Communications measure the output of their effort that they achieved the required target. So by using those techniques they will be able to measure the impact and benefits of conducted marketing research to a particular company. Scenario 3 Identify and assess the existing business objectives and plans Objectives of a business define where the business wants to go in future and what we want achieve in a given period of time(Baker, 2008). Shine communications are in a plan of getting more and more closer to their customers in order to deliver standard service to them. As per the Truban(2002) the customer is the person receiving the outcome of the campaign in fact we must look at the deepest level of specific satisfaction. So according to that shine has a plan to customize their distribution channels suit to the present day demand. They are planning to use LIS Shine the mailing list and other social web sites to make aware and advertise what is happening , new posts , new applications for those who are interest. According to the Rothwell(2004) the main objective of staff training and development are to improve the quality of employee for achieve different tasks. Shine is not in strength of allocating time for series of training and development. But they are having a plan to develop s kills of their employees by using twitter and LinkedIn. In that method they are having objective to allow their members to share skills and experience with others over the social media. Revise the existing business plans of the organisation and suggest new business plans As per the Pinson(2004) business plan is extremely important for the success of business and it is main purpose is to give a picture of the future business. Business plan is very much important to have a integrated vision about the company , mutual understanding among the team , recruiting, determine financial requirements and many more things. Shine Communications should focus on raising their profit margin for that they need to develop business plans in order to achieve that task. Also the company must concentrate on recruiting procedure. To build up strengthen high spirit team they must have a good plan for manage human resource. According to the new business era suggested Shine Communications is needed to develop new business plans and objectives in order to capture the market. Business plan is not a fixed written document that cannot be amended according to the changes within the company (Carig,2009). So as the suggested new business field of marketing research they are expected to develop new aims and objectives to the company s business plan. First company needs to develop a methodology to conduct the researches. That means they should experiment on different ways to gather information and measure the result. The best result methodology can be selected. Then the company needs to hire capable human resource to carry out field work as well as indoor work. Then they must develop a business plan to promote new business area to existing customers , new customers and outsiders by social media. à Ã¢â‚¬  Ãƒ Ã¢â‚¬  Ãƒ Ã¢â‚¬   Prepare an action plans to implement the suggested changes According to the ideas of Bozeman and Straussman(2003) action planning guide to day today activities in a small scale company. It should be a strategically build up framework that must significantly impact on the business activities. It is important to plan operationally and strategically when a company move to a new business , product or service. As per the ideas of Homburg , Kuester , Krohmer(2009) when preparing a action plan first required to develop statement of what must be achieved. In there it is needed to specify the types of the outputs and results that should come out. Then it is needed to spell out the steps that need to follow in order to achieve the objectives and how it is going to take place. Each and every step of the action plan should be carried out carefully by delegating the responsibilities and power. To determine the best methodology first need to collect information from direct contacts already they have with the company. Then focus on small and medium scale g roups to collect information. Then use shines social media activities in order to gather activities. After collecting enough information it should be processed to select the best methodology. For the selecting appropriate methodology company has to follow above specified steps accordingly by the existing staff in a given timeframe. But for the future tasks the existing staff not be sufficient enough and they are not technically and skillfully ready to carry out the tasks. So the next action should be recruiting research capable human resource to the company. Then they will be able to carry out the next level tasks efficiently and effectively to meet customer requirements Scenario 4 Outline the changes of the organization with the new revised plans The rapid change affects the organization development as well as the organizational environment. The transformation of the organization can be a competitive advantage while it may cause to collapse the entire organization structure (Hudson , 2001). Organizational structure As per the idea of Robbins(2007) structure of organsation reflects the meaning of framework organized on the group who are connected under one roof. It shows the way they are working , power delegation , responsibilities , leadership and how the decisions flow. According to the new plans the organsational structure is liable to change. Because of the new recruitment procedures and new business field new posts are generating , new leaders are emerging . so the existing structure of the organization has to change according to new business plans. Business policies According to the Smith and Fingar(2003) business policy provides guidance to predetermine aims and targets of the company to cover up aspects of structural , functional manner. With the establishment of new business field in a existing company it cause to do changes in the existing business policies. Impact that the proposed changes on business and personnel Small scale enterprises rarely believe in policy changes and business changes. They mostly do changes with the intension of creating better work place and work environment (Obien 2011). In the Shine Communications the changes going to made may occur different impact on both business and personal. By proposed changes the business will get new dimension towards the success. The business will be more profit oriented in a budgeted framework and have to focus on both iconic brands and locally distributed brands. Shines policy changes may lead business to more and more customers locally and nationally. Until new policies and practices become familiar and established organizational performance can be affected according to the changes made. Performance may grow up while employees are confident enough to suit with the new business procedures (Smith and Fingar 2003) With the new business aspect employees should be able to work in each and every department without any hesitation. For that the existing staff need to study the new business area and its operations thoroughly. Because being a small scale company no one can limit only tone field of activities. They are expected to get on the job training by sharing experience among one another. Managers are to use the listening and questioning methodology that transfer employees to correct frame work that leads to target organization objectives in a team spirit (Conaty and Charan ,2011 ). To build up team spirit within the organization there should be a bond between new and existing staff. For that it is required to plan and develop campaigns which allows to join together and share skills and experiences. That changes help to develop employees personally and finally it leads to whole performance of the company. How the changes on business going to manage and measure the performance As per the ideas driven by Pinson(2004) significant changes within a business may cause to change management , production , policy negatively. When applying changes to existing business it is needed to systematically minimize negative effects on the business functions, employees and management. Specially there can be competition among new and existing employees because of the level of skills and experience. A smart competition can be admired but if it is growing up to rivalry it should be attended. Employees with different abilities must be appreciated while giving others a chance to improve their skills. The term diversification is connected with changes of a business function , market , product line . Diversification can bring business towards while much diversification pulling business backward. By adding more business fields to the existing business it may cause complex situation because of too many business functions and activities. But by concentrating on each and every functio n clearly and particularly identifying specific factors the negative impact on business can be reduced. As per the Malhotra(2006) performance of a new plan should measure and report in detail in order to significantly identify. Performane by daily basis Tasks of new plan Task1 Task2 Task3 Task4 Task5 Task6 1 2 3 Total value 4 High performance 3- Average Performance 2-Poor Performance 1-Not performing Conclusion The business environment of small scale business is rather different to large scale business environment. Business functions of a small business is not much complex to understand and also it is easy to measure the performance. The selected company has activated business plans and it can be advanced by applying minor changes. Though it is an small company changes in business policies , business functions and objectives cause large impact on the performance of the company.

Pathos

â€Å"Emotional appeals (sometimes called appeals to pathos) are powerful tools for influencing what people think and believe† (Everything’s an argument 38). There are many methods that can be used to create an emotional connection with people. In the story called â€Å"The F word† by Firoozeh Dumas, the author use humor to emotionally connect the readers to her story. In some instances when writers want to get a deeper message across to the audiences they use a sadder approach. In the commercial by AT&T, they try to get the message across texting and driving and the serious consequences.A good method that some authors use to get the attention and achieve a connection with the audience is by using humor. In the story called â€Å"The F Word,† the author, Firoozeh Dumas, talks about her experience growing up in American with an Iranian name that was very difficult for people to say. She goes to talk about how it was more of a struggle fitting in with her na me than anything else. â€Å"All of us immigrants knew that moving to America would be fraught with challenges, but none of us thought that our names would be such an obstacle. (Firoozeh Dumas 751) Being so fed up with the name butchering, she decides to change her name to a much easier American name, Julie. She goes by the name of Julie for a while then decides to go back to Firoozeh. She mentions in the book that after a while she stopped caring about what people call her and responds to just about any name that begins with an F (Firoozeh Dumas 754). Dumas was successful in getting her story across to the readers and many people in this country can relate to this story coming from a different country with a long or difficult name to say.To get a message across or create awareness, some authors and the media like to use more of a deeper more relatable approach, by having people talk about their life experiences, putting up graphic pictures, even show the tragedy that is occurring because of something. In the T. V. ad by AT&T, they raise awareness of the dangers of texting while driving. In the commercial, it had one word show up in the beginning that said, â€Å"Yeah,† and you hear the voice of a girl saying, â€Å"This is the text my sister was reading from me when she crashed her car and died. It was a quick sixteen second commercial, but it was a successful way of using pathos and good message to get across to the audience with a deep emotional connection. This shows that your life can change because of a simple message and affect those who love you. It can be very relatable to those younger drivers and even parents that like to use their cell phones while driving. Pathos is used when writers or even the media want to gain an emotional connection to their audiences and use emotional appeals to influence them. In â€Å"The ‘F’ Word,† by Firoozeh Dumas, she uses humor to connect her story to her audiences. It was a very relatable story and was a good example of using pathos. Another successful form of pathos was in an advertisement by AT&T about texting and driving. It was a sad form of pathos but it was a good message to get across to the audiences that drive and like to use their cell phones. The use of pathos is widely used to influence and draw an emotional appeal to the readers. Some are successful with it and others fail to gain a connection. The story of Dumas and the advertisement by AT&T were both successful with the use of pathos.
